School Offices Open Friday, Independent Study Webinar Tonight

Long Beach Unified School District

View in Khmer

Hi Long Beach Unified Community,

There are now 15 days before the first day of school. On Friday of this week our school principals and managers return to school buildings and our school offices open. Principals and other managers join the hundreds of classified staff members that have been on campuses all summer preparing classrooms and other spaces for the safe opening of school. Friday’s school office opening is important to know because our principals will begin communicating both district protocols and school specific information with you.

Last week we announced that 菠菜网lol正规平台 will be requiring all staff to provide proof of vaccination or participate in weekly COVID testing when school starts. This is an additional health and safety measure that is part of our continued efforts to contribute to our schools’ and our community’s well-being. With 15 days before the start of school, if you or your children, 12 or older, have not been vaccinated, please take advantage of the many walk-up, drive-through and walk-in appointments available in the Long Beach community.

When school offices reopen, we will begin to distribute specific information about our 2021 health and safety protocols as we did last spring. We have collected questions from parents throughout the summer and will provide a number of resources that will answer those questions. As you prepare your student to return to school, please note that K-8 students (and those at Millikan and Wilson) will return to wearing school uniforms. If you need assistance with securing a uniform, please contact your school office after Aug. 20.

If you are seeking an alternative to full-time, in-person instruction, state regulations will allow us to offer an Independent Study program. This is not the hybrid schedule that we were authorized to offer last year. You may attend a virtual webinar tonight at 6 p.m. at LBSchools.net/YouTube and can find information about the webinar here (View in Spanish).

Our Family Guide for School Opening (View in Spanish/Khmer) that was distributed at the end of July, includes a checklist that may be helpful to you over the next two weeks.

I will see you next week. In the meantime, take good care.

Sincerely,

Jill
