Reminders on Resources for Families, Safety and In-Person Learning

Long Beach Unified School District

View in Khmer

The Long Beach Unified School District is carefully monitoring the unfortunate increase in COVID-19 cases locally, regionally and nationally. In the meantime, the school district continues to offer important resources for families, along with some reminders about safety and eventual in-person learning.

Students and families are encouraged to reach out if they need help, including referrals for community resources. Family Resource Centers and the foster youth team continue to operate in service to students and families. Parent University continues to create tools and resources for parents. Learn more at ngskmc-eis.net or by contacting your local school.

Please remember these safety tips at home and when visiting schools, for instance to obtain help with technology or receive meals:

  • Before you consider visiting a school, ask yourself, “Will I be able to honestly pass the health screening questions, including whether I have any COVID symptoms?”  If the answer is “no,” then please make the choice to stay home, monitor your symptoms, and consider seeking a COVID test.
  • If you test for COVID for any reason (including a precautionary test, a curiosity test or a required travel test), please do not visit a school until you have test results that indicate that you do not have COVID.
  • Masks are required for any and all movement around our schools and district facilities.
  • Avoid sharing meals with people outside of your immediate family. Close contact, without masks (which occurs while eating), has proven to put people at higher risk of exposure.
  • Avoid planning or participating in any holiday parties outside of your household.

The school district still plans to phase students back into in-person learning when it is safe to do so. For now, 菠菜网lol正规平台 will continue to do everything that is allowable given the current conditions and local health orders. Limited, in-person assessments will continue, as will childcare and sports conditioning. The school district’s phasing-in plan will be activated as more activities are allowed.

Please watch for an additional update prior to the winter break.
