Reminder on Home Test Kits

Long Beach Unified School District
How to Use COVID Home Tests
Cómo usar las pruebas de COVID en casa

As mentioned in our message to families last Friday, schools will begin distributing COVID-19 home tests this week. Each 菠菜网lol正规平台 school will distribute a box with two COVID-19 antigen rapid tests to students in grades K-12. The video accompanying this reminder shows how to use these home tests.

After the first test kit distribution, additional kits will be distributed home with each student within two weeks.

COVID-19 tests are recommended for your child when you receive a notification that your child has been exposed. Starting this week, when a positive case is confirmed in a classroom, all students in that class will receive an exposure notification.

When checking your child after a potential exposure, tests are recommended for use three to five days after the exposure.

If the home test is negative: No further action is required. The student may return to school.

If the home test is positive: Please keep your child home and notify the school.

IMPORTANT: If a student has tested positive for COVID-19, they will need to produce a negative COVID-19 test administered through a medical entity such as the local health department or a local pharmacy before they return to school. In these cases, at-home tests will not be accepted for a student’s return to school (even if the result is negative). Students who need such a test from a medical provider also can take advantage of testing clinics offered by Long Beach Health and Human Services on Mondays through Fridays at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa Fe Ave., Long Beach. Enter from Hill Street. Testing will be offered 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of a 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. break each day.

Please note that at-home testing is separate from the continued testing that is taking place for students participating in 菠菜网lol正规平台 sports and athletics. These students will continue to be subject to testing as per the recommendations of the California Department of Public Health.

Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to offer in-person learning with COVID testing and other safety measures.
